• Strategy Development for a Microfinance Institution
  Developing a 5-year strategy plan for a microfinance institution in Malawi to extend economic impact, including a strategy for cost reduction and growth of the existing operations, and an investment plan for offering new products and services.
• Strategy Development for Judiciary
  Developing the strategic framework, the financial analysis and budget estimation as part of the judiciary’s strategy and development programme for 2010-2015.
• Benchmark of Waste Management Companies
  Delivering analysis of waste management ‘value’ chain and benchmark on core value chain aspects to feed into strategic plan.
• Reorganization of European Procurement
  Defining organizational structure, roles, responsibilities, workload and preparing competency assessment for European procurement reorganization of a leading global petrochemical company.
• Change Management for System Implementation
  Leading a team of 15 trainers responsible for delivering training and coaching of >200 employees in using new company-wide implemented system (change management).
• Cost Reduction of Company Telecom Costs
  Leading a study on reduction and activity-based controlling of telephony costs of a major global bank.
• Reorganization of Engineering Department
  Analysing and redesigning project management structure of robotic engineering department for automotive industry.

Economic & Social Development

• International Trade and Non-Tariff Measures
  Researching Non-Tariff Measures and other obstacles to trade between Malawi and other countries through interviewing more than 200 importing and exporting companies.
• Financial Assessment of Tourism and Plantations Sector
  Analysing and making recommendations for increasing the economic impact of tourism and plantations around Mount Mulanje in Malawi as part of an application for the nomination of World Heritage Site.
• Financial Impact Analysis of Tobacco Growing
  Analysing the impact of tobacco growing on the economic livelihood of Mozambican Tobacco Growers as part of strategy for a ‘100-Year Partnership’ between the growers and the buyer.
• Financial Analysis of Rural Poultry
  Developing the framework to estimate the economic impact as part of a rural poultry value-chain analysis in Malawi.
• Financial Sector Strategy – Supply Side
  Coordinating a team of experts conducting a supply side study of Malawi’s financial sector that included interviewing and benchmarking all major microfinance institutions. The study had a particular emphasis on improving access to finance, and provided valuable insights into the draft financial sector development strategy.
• Social Cash Transfer Program
  Providing recommendations for alternative delivery mechanisms for nation-wide transfer of social cash from government to 10% poorest of Malawi.
• Maternal Health Competition
  Managing a team of 20 people to select the most innovative ideas out of about 10,000 ideas received as part of a maternal health competition.
• Financial & Social Improvement of Tobacco Growers
  Analysing efficiency losses in tobacco value chain, making recommendations on improving social and economic circumstances of tobacco farmers in Malawi (a country for 60% of GDP dependent on tobacco) and presenting outcomes to senior management of an international tobacco leaf buyer.
• Strategy for Cross-Border Cooperation on Child Support
  Identifying opportunities for cross-border cooperation for helping marginalized children in improving access to basic needs in Northern Malawi, North East Zambia and Southern Tanzania.

Energy Conservation

• Energy Efficient Lighting Program
  Designing and implementing a program to provide 2 Million Compact Fluorescent Lamps for Malawi free-of-charge to residential, public and small enterprise buildings through direct ‘door-to-door’ installation; providing advise on other large-scale energy efficiency projects.
• Power Sector Investment Proposal
  Developing the investment proposal for the entire power sector of Malawi for a major US donor
• Power Substation Business Case
  Developing the business case for a nation-wide implementation of a new international standard (IEC 61850) for the automation of substations (where voltage is transformed from high to low or the reverse using transformers) automation.
• International Power Utilities Benchmark
  Analysing shareholder value of power utility companies as part of a worldwide high-performance business study in cooperation with Harvard Business Review.
• Electricity & Gas Metering Model
  Analysing impact of new government-initiated market model for metering electricity and gas consumption (including ‘smart’ metering for households), preparing decision making on market issues, and developing company’s business case for taking part in national grid operator system.
• Electricity & Gas – Various Consulting
  Providing strategic support in procurement of new meter data collection system, setting up program management for meter data collection department, and designing portal functionality for call centre employees.
• Electricity & Gas Liberalisation Processes
  Developing and preparing weekly high-level reports for the Executive Board on complex data streams resulting from new processes due to liberalization of electricity & gas market.
